Five Fat Fighting Foods Probably You Didn't Know

Figs And GrapefruitsModern research has repeatedly shown that polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats from plants are the best sources of fat for human consumption. Fats are composed of carbon, hydrogen and oxygen, but the number of carbon and hydrogen atoms far outnumber that of oxygen in fats.

Fats are used by the body primarily for insulation, lubrication, and as a stored fuel source. Except for fat, the body does not have the capacity to store excess nutrients to any great degree. All excess calories, no matter their source, are stored as body fat. The largely saturated fats found in animal foods have been linked to ailments such as heart disease, diabetes, and obesity.  It’s true that all foods can be a possible sources of fat creation, but certain foods can help burn fat or reduce fat.  Fat burning foods generally have one of two properties: they are either extremely low or free of all fat themselves, or they make you feel extremely full quickly. Some foods have both of these properties, making them perfect choices for people who need to get rid of excess weight.

Here are 5 food ideas that will help with your fat burning goals:

Figs
Figs have been part of the human diet for at least 10,000 years and are now grown
throughout the Mediterranean, as well as in California, Oregon, Texas, and Washington
State. Figs are a good source of fiber and are high in protein, for a fruit. They are also among the best plant sources of calcium. A fig supplies 16 percent of the recommended daily intake for iron, 18 percent for magnesium, and 14 percent for potassium, which benefits your heart and other organs by keeping your blood pressure and hydration in balance. Fig leaves have been found to have some potential incontrolling diabetes. Figs may not be at the top of your list of preferred foods, but their health and weight loss advantages can't be denied. Figs are very low in calories, especially raw figs. They can prevent overeating as they contribute to you feeling full - lessening the craving for bad snacks and helping you to keep your meal sizes smaller. Figs are a great snack and can replace other unhealthy treats. Buy figs that are smooth and firm and that have a sweet (not sour) smell. Dried figs will keep for several months if stored in the refrigerator or in a cool, dark place. Wrap them tightly to keep them from drying out.

Beans
According to the Livitician, beans are the healthiest food on earth! Low in fat, rich in fiber, and with a skin full of antioxidants, beans contribute to lowering cholesterol and reducing the risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and some cancers. Beans are a great source of proteins and minerals, including the heart-healthy electrolytes calcium, magnesium, and potassium that are vital for controlling blood pressure and keeping you hydrated. They also provide folic acid and B6, which help your heart by reducing levels of the stress hormone homocysteine. Some beans, including small red beans, red beans, and pinto beans, showed antioxidant capacity as good as, or better than, some of the most powerful antioxidant fruits and vegetables, including blueberries, cranberries, and artichokes. In one study, eating half a cup of pinto beans per day for eight weeks lowered the participants’ cholesterol by 8 percent. There are lots of different types of beans and all are high in protein. They are a staple in vegetarian diets and without a doubt, they are a food that will fill you up quickly, and as such, will reduce the chance of you eating too much at any meal (leading to weight loss). Red kidney, lima and butter beans are just some of the dozens of varieties of beans available.

Coffee
Coffee is perhaps the most healthy of all our favorite drinks but it has been labeled with the stigma of being unhealthy before. Coffee  contains no calories, no fat and barely any carbohydrates – and is also a major source of antioxidants. Coffee can help in the prevention and treatment of diseases and illnesses as varied as Alzheimer's disease, diabetes, liver disease, skin cancer and more. Coffee is not exactly a food, nor is it recommended as a sole tool for weight loss. But in moderation, coffee can certainly give you great benefits and accelerate your weight loss progress. Caffeine can quicken your metabolism and thus, help you to burn more calories. Remember not to add sugar! Other sources of caffeine like Green Tea are also an excellent alternative.

Broccoli is just one vegetable you should be eating at least 5 times per week, but it's an important one, particularly for people wanting to lose weight. There are only around 40 calories in a serving of steamed broccoli The nutrition in this little powerhouse veggie can't be overstated though. And  also provides a substantial amount of lutein, which can help preserve vision and has benefits for circulatory health. Fresh broccoli does not keep well, so store it in the refrigerator for no more than three days before using. This vegetable needs room to breathe, so don’t seal it up in plastic use a perforated plastic bag. The tight-packed florets of broccoli are extra-rich in nutrition. The greener the better when it comes to buying broccoli, and lightly steaming is one of the best ways to cook it without losing nutrients.

Grapefruit
It may surprise many people, but grapefruit really can help with weight loss!  Research has shown that grapefruit can actually help to absorb fat and lower cholesterol levels, therefore it can be considered one of the best fat burning foods. In a small test involving 100 obese people, those who ate half a fresh grapefruit each day lost more weight than the control group that did not. It appears that the effect is partly due to grapefruit’s ability to lower glucose levels. Eating grapefruit also appeared to help patients with metabolic syndrome, reducing their insulin resistance It is low in calories (around 70 calories per whole fruit) and contains galacturonic acid and pectin, which is a fiber that is the key to grapefruit's fat and cholesterol lowering properties.

What Delicious Fatty Food Helps You Lose Weight?
Many people find it hard to believe that a fatty food could be so good for you, but coconut oil is one of the healthiest oils on the planet. It consists of 90+% raw saturated fat; a rare and important building block of every cell in the human body. Unlike long-chain saturated animal fats (that have been associated with creating poor health), coconut oil contains healthy, healing, medium-chain triglycerides (MCTs).
MCTs support the immune system, the thyroid gland, the nervous system, the skin, and they provide fast energy as well. The MCTs in coconut oil help increase metabolism and therefore help to support weight loss.

MCTs are also known to have antiviral, antimicrobial, and antifungal properties. For this reason, coconut oil is one of the best dietary fat sources for individuals on anti-candida diets.
Most fats are broken down into little bundles of fat and protein called lipoproteins which can be stored in our cells and become fatty tissue, but the fat in coconuts is a Medium Chain Fatty Acid which is treated differently by our bodies. Medium Chain Fatty Acids go directly to our liver and are immediately converted into energy like a carbohydrate, except it doesn't raise blood sugar like a carbohydrate. The hard work of many dedicated health pioneers has led to the rediscovery that the medium-chain saturated fats in coconut oil are an important part of a healthy, balanced diet and daily skin care.
