Many changes can be made in your diet that will improve your health, but no change is as powerful as the decision to become a vegetarian. Unfortunately, this is also the choice that is seemingly the most difficult. For someone who has consumed meat their whole life, the thought of not eating it at all can be overwhelming.
It is the center of so many meals, is admittedly very delicious, and is often the chief source of protein and iron. In addition, giving up anything requires willpower that too many people believe they don't have. In reality, becoming vegetarian is easier than you think, and the decision to make this choice can be fortified by all the reasons to do it. And once you are vegetarian, maintaining that choice is also surprisingly easy, especially when you feel within yourself all the benefits.

One of the main pragmatic problems facing people in the world is lack of energy. It is because of energy deficiency that so many individuals have to resort to coffee, or even worse, mainstream energy drinks and energy shots like 5-Hour Energy. These drinks overstimulate the body with caffeine, sugar, B-vitamins, and preservatives. For example, 5-Hour Energy contains sodium benzoate, EDTA, and artificial flavors which all contribute to cancer formation in their own way. Aside from that tangent, one of the most significant contributors to fatigue is the practice of consuming meat. The body requires immense amounts of energy to digest meat, and this detracts from energy that could be used for your mind. In addition, since meat takes so long to digest, it starts to putrefy in the body and create toxins, which further drain energy.

Since someone who consumes meat has probably been doing it all their life, these effects compound, and it becomes harder and harder to get through the day without having to resort to unhealthy energy production methods. But the best thing is that once you stop eating meat, those effects go away rapidly, and you will feel more energy than you ever have before in your life. It will definitely take some time to notice truly dramatic changes, but even within the first week of being vegetarian, your energy will start to improve.

Of course, improving your energy isn't the only benefit of making this choice, in fact it is arguably one of the lesser positive effects. You will greatly reduce your risks for heart disease, cancer, obesity, multiple sclerosis, and other degenerative diseases, as well as avoid the risk of salmonella and other infectious conditions. There is an abundant supply of vegetable-rich meat substitutes on the market, which are great ways to increase your vegetable intake while feeling like you never even gave up meat. Give it a try, and you will see how effective it can be!
